ECAT in a Nutshell
ECAT is the engineering entry test for UET and many affiliated engineering universities. It is built on the FSc Pre-Engineering syllabus — Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry (or Computer Science) and English — and is known for negative marking, which means guessing costs you. Check the latest pattern and marking scheme on the official UET admissions website before your test.
Mathematics: Where Engineering Merit Is Won
Maths carries heavy weight and rewards speed. Focus on functions and limits, differentiation, integration, matrices, complex numbers and sequences & series.
- Limits & Continuity — free test
- Rules of Differentiation — free test
- Indefinite & Definite Integrals — free test
- Matrices & Operations — free test
- AP, GP & HP — free test
Physics: Concepts Over Long Calculations
ECAT physics MCQs test whether you understand the principle. Vectors, equilibrium, units and errors are frequent starting points.
Handling Negative Marking
- Attempt a question only if you can eliminate at least two options.
- Do two passes: answer the sure questions first, then return to the doubtful ones.
- Practise under time pressure — the Entry Test level gives you 45 seconds per question.
